I've been reading the book "Soul Retrieval" by Sandra Ingerman. Since there are certain aspects of my life in which her "soul loss" theories make sense, it seemed like a good idea to ask for aid in doing this myself, through dreams. Be careful what you ask for, especially if you've been focused on Baba Yaga lately. ;)

Well, I had a dream last night. Bottom line, there was a group (around 5) Native Americans who sat down during a house party (not my house, but somewhere I'd been led) to do a meditative chant together. The apparent leader of the group asked me directly, "would you like me to teach you how to meditate?" For whatever reason, I answered her that "I knew how to meditate for the needs that I have." My somewhat standoffish tone (in hindsight) was not well-received, as she gave me a disappointed and faintly disapproving look. With that, the group began to do a chant.

So, I'm still not paying the attention I should be, because now I'm leaning over to read a book (sitting on the floor, BTW). Suddenly, to my right, a black dog appears and is firmly checking me out. "Oh, boy, a dog!" thought I (for the record, a black dog has often been my spirit companion in dreams). So, this animal seems REALLY insistent on leaning right up against me during this. Didn't make eye contact because it seemed a little irritated. And I'm now realizing that it's leg is up... and he's peeing on me.

Yes, boys and girls, I got a big message that what I'd done was really, really stupid. The Dark Mother was reminding me that I'd given myself over to Her as Her territory, and that I'd best pay closer attention to what She sends me when I ask for Her aid. And give a LOT more respect as well to the messengers.

I must say, the Dark Mother isn't subtle in the slightest. Which is what I want, but it's never been QUITE that direct. So, dear readers, if you are addressed in the dream/spirit world, better stay alert!

Actually, a couple of nights ago, but this is the first time I've had to sit down and record it.

You remember that we recently overhauled our family room into a temple room. Well, in my dream I was troubled about something (don't remember what, it was vague), and I went into the family room. There was my maternal grandfather, seated in the middle of the room in one of the dining room chairs (we inherited the set from his wife, my grandmother). He looked up and saw me, smiled that Mr Rogers-style smile, stood and opened his arms to me. I went to him and we hugged, and all was right with the world again.

Now, the main furniture in this new spiritual-minded room is his reclining chair that we inherited when Grandma died. I believe that's why he manifested in that room, although he was sitting in another chair when I saw him. It's the first time he's "visited" us, though Grandma makes her presence known here and there. It was a wonderful surprise, and good to know that he's around watching over us and seeing his second great-grandchild grow up.

Alexandria (age 9) had a dream last night. Mostly, it was about being in a classroom full of mice. One of the young students was missing. Alexandria went looking for him, and found him right inside the entrance of a hole in the floor, which had a zig-zag staircase leading downwards. She and the teacher reached the little mouse at the same time, and the little mouse reached up to Alexandria to pick him up.

Now, a hole in the ground with a staircase is a powerful symbol of the Underworld, and the mouse is a common shamanic psychopomp. She has already shown inclination to connect with the spirits, so the continuation of this talent will be interesting to see manifest.
