The Christmas tree has a new top this year; a Santa dressed in the older European style, with additions (staff, eye patch etc) to transform him into Odin. When you've got pagan beliefs and mainstream mixing, it makes for some interesting blends of culture! I'll get a picture up later.
"FlashForward" finally gives us some teasers, insights, and action, and now we have to wait until March for new stuff?! Auugghh!!!!
In other news, we might get some snow flurries around noon. Cancel the city closing down. ;) And looking at the weather pattern, I am SO glad I don't live in Houston.
Could we actually have snow in the San Antonio area on Friday? Woo-hoo! The weather service predicts that Bexar County has a 60-70 percent chance of receiving a half-inch to an inch of snowfall.
What do you think about last night's speech and the strategy laid out?
Note: This is NOT the place to rant about Bush and/or why we're there to begin with. The war has now been placed on President Obama's shoulders; he took ownership. Thank you.
....to be watching for Yule and other December events in the local San Antonio pagan community. Please drop by periodically to see what's coming up....
We figured out another Poppy trigger at Thanksgiving. There were 7 men at our house, most of whom she hadn't met before; she was more hesitant with them than the women, but for the large group she handled herself very well. And yet, my husband is still the one she runs from after almost 2 months. The one thing different he has from the rest of the men? My husband had a beard; the other are cleanshaven (one with a mustache). So this may be an additional clue as to what scares her. He's going to trim it down and see how she reacts.
....the floor Swiffer. Alexandria was Swiffering the living room, and Poppy was chasing after it like it was alive, jumping, barking and tail wagging like crazy.
kyllo had her wedding gown portraits today at San Jose Mission. The weather could not have been more perfect for this type of shoot. She looked so beautiful! It was a girls' day out; Catherine, sister Alexandria, Grandma and me.
A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
...during which we'll all desperately try to avoid actually using the term "Thankmas" for fear of offending someone, and poo tornadoes will emblazon every hearth. Aww. Don't you just lovethe holidayswinter?
